General Questions
Do you offer free estimates?
Yes, we provide free, no-obligation estimates for all garage door repairs and installations. We can often give you a ballpark price over the phone, or we can schedule an on-site visit for a detailed written estimate. There's no pressure and no obligation — we want you to make an informed decision.
What areas do you serve?
We serve Columbus, Cleveland, Akron, Toledo, and surrounding areas across Franklin, Cuyahoga, Summit, and Lucas Counties in Ohio. If you're not sure whether we cover your specific location, give us a call at (216) 493-8291 and we'll let you know.
Are you insured?
Yes, we are fully insured. All our technicians are also background-checked and drug-tested for your safety and peace of mind.
Do you offer same-day service?
Yes, same-day service is available for most repairs in our service areas. We stock common parts on our trucks, which allows us to complete most spring replacements, opener repairs, and other common fixes during the first visit. Call before noon for the best chance of same-day service.
Spring & Cable Repairs
How do I know if my garage door spring is broken?
Common signs include: the door won't open at all, opens only a few inches, feels extremely heavy to lift manually, makes a loud bang or snap sound, or one side lifts higher than the other. You may also see a gap in the spring above the door (for torsion springs) or a hanging cable (for extension springs).
Can I replace a garage door spring myself?
We strongly recommend against DIY spring replacement. Garage door springs are under 200+ pounds of tension and can cause serious injury or death if not handled properly. Professional technicians have the proper tools and training to do this safely. It's not worth the risk.
Should I replace both springs if only one broke?
Yes, we recommend replacing both springs even if only one is broken. Springs are installed as a matched set and wear at similar rates. If one broke, the other is likely near the end of its life. Replacing both now prevents a second service call in a few weeks and is usually only a small additional cost.
Garage Door Openers
Should I repair or replace my garage door opener?
If your opener is less than 10 years old and the issue is minor, repair usually makes sense. If it's 15+ years old or needs major repairs, replacement is often the better value. Modern openers are quieter, more reliable, and include smart features like WiFi control. Call us and we'll give you an honest recommendation.
What's the best garage door opener brand?
We recommend LiftMaster and Chamberlain (same parent company) for reliability and longevity. Genie is also a good brand. For attached garages, we suggest belt-drive openers (quieter). For detached garages, chain-drive units (less expensive) work well. LiftMaster's WiFi models are excellent for smart home integration.
Why does my garage door reverse when closing?
This is usually caused by misaligned safety sensors (photo eyes) at the bottom of the door. The sensors can get bumped or dirty, breaking the beam. Other causes include incorrect force settings or obstructions in the door's path. This is typically a 15-minute fix that we can handle same-visit.
New Door Installation
How do I get a quote for a new garage door?
Contact us for a free, no-obligation quote. Pricing varies based on door size, material, insulation level, and style. We'll come out, measure, help you choose the right door, and give you an exact written price before any work begins.
How long does garage door installation take?
Most standard garage door installations take 4–6 hours. This includes removing the old door, installing the new door, balancing the springs, installing the opener (if needed), and cleanup. More complex installations or custom doors may take longer. We can usually schedule installation within 1–2 weeks of your order.
Do I need a permit to replace my garage door?
In most Ohio municipalities, you don't need a permit to replace a garage door with a similar door (same size and type). However, if you're adding a new door, changing the size, or making structural changes, a permit may be required. We're familiar with local building codes and can advise on permit requirements for your specific situation.
Maintenance & Warranties
How often should I have my garage door serviced?
We recommend annual maintenance for residential garage doors. This includes lubricating moving parts, adjusting spring tension, inspecting safety features, and tightening hardware. Regular maintenance extends the life of your door and prevents costly emergency repairs.
What warranty do you offer?
All our repairs come with a 12-month parts and labor warranty. If something we repaired fails within 12 months, we'll come back and fix it at no charge. New door installations typically include the manufacturer's warranty (usually 1–10 years depending on the part) plus our 12-month installation warranty.
What's included in a maintenance tune-up?
Our maintenance service includes: lubricating all moving parts (hinges, rollers, tracks, springs), adjusting spring tension for balanced operation, inspecting and adjusting safety sensors, tightening all hardware, inspecting cables and rollers for wear, testing opener force settings, and cleaning the tracks. It takes about an hour per door.
