FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Should I repair or replace my garage door opener?
If your opener is less than 10 years old and the issue is minor, repair usually makes sense. If it's 15+ years old or needs major repairs, replacement is often the better choice. Modern openers are quieter, more reliable, and include smart features. We'll give you honest advice on what makes the most sense.
What's the best garage door opener brand?
LiftMaster and Chamberlain (same parent company) are the most reliable in our experience. Genie is also good. We recommend belt-drive openers for attached garages (quieter) and chain-drive for detached garages (less expensive). LiftMaster's WiFi models are excellent if you want smartphone control.
How much does a new garage door opener cost installed?
Pricing varies by model and features. Call us for a free quote — we carry openers in stock and can usually install same-day.
Why does my garage door reverse when closing?
Usually caused by misaligned safety sensors (photo eyes) at the bottom of the door. Sensors can get bumped or dirty, breaking the beam. Other causes include incorrect force settings or obstructions in the door's path. This is a 15-minute fix in most cases.
